What we learned
having spent the morning with residents talking to them about what makes them feel safe, staff recorded what they told us on hearts and these were displayed to remind us of the importance of these statements. Many of the things they told us were very simple things, like being listened to, being treated with kindness, feeling the staff know me and what I like, knowing that staff will speak up for them if they get muddled. Residents said they enjoyed having time to speak to staff about their feelings. Staff in turn said they felt the residents were asking for very little and were happy to make pledges to them based on what they told them.
