Activities

Sammy Comber, our Wellbeing Lead, organises a full and stimulating programme of events and activities to promote and enhance the enjoyment and wellbeing of the people who live here. Residents have the opportunity to participate in wide range of activities including games mornings, sporting activities, flower arranging, quizzes, word games, puzzles and board games, arts and crafts, music and baking, exercise and art classes. We make great use of technology too to explore, understand and discuss a variety of topics from current affairs, the natural world, history, music and interactive entertainment. Sammy arranges for members of the local community and community groups to come and give talks and presentations on a range of topics of interest and liaises with our local schools, inviting children and students to engage with our residents in mutually rewarding activities. Professional entertainers also visit as part of a well balanced activity programme.

Our STAR Group (staff and residents) meets monthly to discuss life at Compton House and this forum enables us to receive and discuss feedback from our residents about their experiences living here. Residents are encouraged to share their suggestions and have a regular input to the activities, outings and events that are planned, which has resulted in some wonderful and innovative ideas.

Every Sunday and Wednesday mornings services are held in the lounge which are led by members of the three Churches in the village. Residents are free to choose whether or not they wish to take part. With the help of members of the Care Team prayer meetings and bible study groups are facilitated for those who wish to participate.
